“At Ecohomes we design, manufacture and can even install. We can cope with very large developments, small cottages or even an extension. I have over 34 years experience in the trade and I’ll be one of the first people you speak to when you contact Ecohomes. I measure up, quote and design the trusses and metal web joists that you’ll need.
Once you’ve been to an architect I’ll take a look at your plans and work out your timber frame requirements. I’ll also talk to your installer or builder to make sure it all goes to plan. After being locally manufactured in Guernsey, to particular specifications, the individual pieces can be put together in the workshop or on site. That makes it easier when there are access issues and in Guernsey that is often the case. I try and make the whole process run as smoothly as possible.”
“My role is to oversee the manufacturing side of the process and this involves my team on site, 7 employees who primarily produce timber frame, metal web joists and roof trusses.
I am also involved in designing and quoting especially when it comes to structural integrated panels (SIPs).
They are the next generation of construction – great energy efficiency, quick to install, very strong and leave little wastage. They’re made from a sandwich of timber-based boards and a highly insulated core. We advise homeowners, builders, architects and structural engineers about our products. We will also submit designs and engineering details to building control for approval and overall just try to make the process as clear and easy as possible.”
