Internal Sales Advisor

Purpose of the Role

Convert enquiries into profitable orders through excellent customer service, accurate quoting, and proactive follow-up. Support the Senior Internal Sales Advisor (or equivalent) and contribute to the smooth running of the internal sales function. In this role it is crucial to build and maintain strong relationships, with tradespeople and suppliers, whilst proactively looking to grow their account sales and maximise profitability through upselling. This is an exciting opportunity to grow and progress within the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare accurate quotes and process orders quickly and correctly.
  • Chase outstanding quotes to maximise conversion.
  • Manage small and medium-sized customer accounts.
  • Cross-sell and upsell to increase customer spend.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, CRM entries, and system data.
  • Raise credit notes when required.
  • Liaise with the Sales team regarding customer credit status for high-value orders.
  • Monitor competitor activity and share insights with the team.
  • Attend sales meetings as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the trade counter, warehouse, and external sales teams.
  • Attend training to develop product knowledge, sales skills, and system capability.
  • Support the Senior Internal Sales Advisor by:
    • Assisting with complex quotes.
    • Handling delegated follow-ups.
    • Providing product, pricing and/or supplier information.
    • Take on tasks during peak periods to maintain service levels.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head of Operations or Department Supervisor to aid business / department success.

  • Adhere to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.

Desirable Skills Knowledge

  • Previous and proven experience in a sales position.
  • Knowledge of building products / building industry.

 

General Information

Based in the main building of Norman Piette in Guernsey, this role will enable the postholder to learn and develop a wide range of skills and knowledge on the job and will be supported to progress within the Group if desired. The postholder requires an appropriate Right to Work document or equivalent.
