Paint Department Assistant

Purpose of the Role:

To assist in the day to day running of the Decorating Centre. Based in the main building of Norman Piette in Guernsey, this role will enable to the postholder to learn and develop a wide range of skills and knowledge on the job and will be supported to progress within the Group if desired.

Part-time Hours: Wednesday, Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day to day running of the Decorating Centre.
  • Greeting and helping customers as well as recommending products, drawing attention to offers and referring to experts when required.
  • Completing schedules and tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Ensuring excellent customers service levels are always achieved and maintained – building long-term customer relationships.
  • Gaining knowledge of products and remaining abreast of the latest industry trends by researching required information using available resources.
  • Processing orders and working with other departments to schedule prompt delivery of orders.
  • Handling and resolving basic complaints – escalating critical issues to management.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by the department manager to aid business / department success.
  • Maintain and restock, front-face products, keep tidy and dust when needed.
  • Adhere to Group Policies and Procedures, Group Health and Safety Policy.
  • Adhere to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by the Building Centre Manager to aid business / department success.
  • Assist the department with regular sequential stock counting.

 

Essentials Skills and Knowledge:

  • Sales and customer service experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work efficiently at times of pressure.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work within teams and adapt to different environments.
  • Works in a calm, courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or other customer service software.
  • Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Paint and associated products.
  • Learn to mix paints on 3 different machines.
  • Keeping shelves stocked up.
  • Proven experience in a similar role is desired but not essential.

 

The postholder requires an appropriate Right to Work document or equivalent.
