Plumbing Assistant (Counter and Warehouse)

Purpose of the Role

This hybrid role is split over two areas of the Plumbing and Heating section. The counter duties are focused on providing support to the Supervisor and team to raise customer service levels, promote and sell products. In addition the role will assist within the warehouse to understand stock storage and management and assist with ensuring the efficiency and general housekeeping of the area.

This is a permanent fulltime position which requires candidates to hold a valid Population Management Permit.

 

Key Responsibilities

Counter

  • Working within a small team to build and maintain strong customer relationships, drive sales, and identify up selling opportunities.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations in the both over the phone and in person.
  • Greet customers, offering assistance, recommending products and highlight offers.
  • Refer customers to experts when required.
  • Assist with stock replenishment.
  • Assist with promotion displays and the general housekeeping of the front of house.
  • Handling and resolving basic complaints in a calm and professional manner, escalating complex issues to management.
  • Continuously seek to gain product information by staying informed on the latest industry trends and drawing on the knowledge of suppliers.
  • Processing orders in a timely manner and liaise with other departments to schedule deliveries,
  • Working to the schedules and work assigned by the supervisor

Warehouse

  • Ensure goods are checked into the Plumbing department timely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure that goods are stocked safely and securely in the allocated areas. Ensure the warehouse is clean, tidy and free from hazards.
  • Assist the department with regular sequential stock counting.
  • Liaise with the Front of House team on the receipt of ‘Special Orders’.
  • Complete any other duties as directed by the Warehouse leader/Supervisor to achieve business/department success.

Counter and Warehouse

  • The working week is completed in accordance with the rota operated in the sections
  • Adhere to Group Policies and Procedures.
  • Adhere to the Group Health and Safety Policy.
  • Adheres to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.

 

Essentials Skills and Knowledge

  • Sales and customer service experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure.
  • Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Works in a professional manner at all times
  • Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Good IT skills with the ability to adapt to bespoke systems
  • Basic commercial awareness
  • A relevant Population Management Permit is required

 

Desirable Skills Knowledge

  • Previous plumbing and heating experience or knowledge of related products
  • Holds a valid forklift truck license or is willing to undertake training to obtain license.
